what the cat actually does
Features
Meowllo is a small desktop cat for macOS 12 or later and Windows 10/11 on x64. One adoption code covers both, up to 3 devices. It reacts to how you work. It does not read what you type.
On a Mac
- Apple Silicon and Intel each have their own installer: Apple Silicon and Intel.
- Open the .dmg and drag Meowllo to Applications. If the first open is blocked, right-click the app and choose Open.
- It follows the cursor across every display, and remembers which monitor it sits on.
- Reminders can be imported or exported to Calendar.
On Windows
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Download the Windows installer.
- If SmartScreen appears, choose More info, then Run anyway.
- It kneads while you type, unrolls paper when you scroll, and can be picked up in Move Mode and dropped on any monitor.
- Reminders stay inside the app. Calendar import is a Mac feature.
Focus companion
- Start a Pomodoro from the tray. Meowllo curls up beside a tiny timer until the session ends, then stretches.
- After about 10 minutes of non-stop work, it does a long stretch so you can stretch too.
- Sessions, minutes, and your current and best streak stay on your computer.
- Set a reminder with a time and a message. Meowllo hops up and shows it. Nothing is played out loud yet.
- Pin one sticky note above its head, and give the cat a name. The name shows up in reminders, breaks, and the tray menu.
Permissions
Full reactions in other apps need a permission. It is optional.
- Mac: Input Monitoring or Accessibility, so the cat can tell that you are typing.
- Windows: a low-level input hook, for the same reason.
That signal stays on your computer and only picks an animation. We do not receive what you type, which apps you use, window titles, clipboard contents, or what is on your screen.
Decline the permission and Meowllo still runs, in Limited Mode. You can pet it, move it, and use the parts that do not need to watch input in other programs.
Activating a code sends a hashed machine id and the platform, so one code can live on up to 3 devices. That is separate from the typing permission. What we keep is on the privacy page.
